We
had planned a full day in Balestrand to go for a long hike. However,
the weather was not really good and we had to go for plan B.
We
then decided to stroll on the yellow-marked discovery trail that runs
along Balestrand from the heights of the forest. The setting is
extraordinarily green and pure. The walk is strewn with wooden
pontoon bridges going over small streams of water.
Since
we could not really hike, we went to visit the aquarium (Sognefjord
Akvarium).
Address:
By the harbour
Opening
Hours: Depending on the day, every day between 7 a.m. (or 9 a.m.) to
7 p.m. (or 9 p.m.).
Admission:
NOK 70
It
makes you pass the time but the place itself has nothing
extraordinary. In small aquariums are piled up local species like
starfish, turbot, flying fish, etc. The ticket also offers you an
hour of rowing boat ride on the fjord, but when it is raining…
That’s miss!
Failing
that, we were able to admire the view on the fjord from the pontoon
bridge.
It
may be noted once again that the aquarium’s bakery is worth being
visited: Good bread and excellent cakes!
